Abstract: Effects of different heat treatment condition on microstructure and properties of a hypoeutectic high chromium cast iron were studied by means of optical microscope, scanning electron microscope, X-ray energy dispersive spectrometer and mechanical properties test. The results show that the hardness and impact absorbed energy of the tested cast iron firstly increases and then decreases with the increase of quenching temperature and time. The maximum hardness and impact absorbed energy of the tested cast iron can reach 58 HRC and 15 J after quenching plus tempering, respectively.
