Abstract: Oxidation behavior of Fe-40%Ni alloy was studied by measuring the thickness of oxide layer generated at high temperature for different time, and the mathematical model for predicting the thickness of oxide layer was obtained by regression analysis. The results show that the thickness of oxide layer increases slowly when the temperature is lower than 1000 ℃, and increases significantly when the temperature is above 1000 ℃. With the extension of holding time, the thickness of oxide layer increases at a certain rate and has an approximate linear relationship with the holding time. At higher temperature, the relationship changes to parabolic type gradually. The result of regression analysis indicates that the oxide layer thickness(μm)can be calculated by the formula h=6700×t0.44×e-6870/T.
