Abstract: Aiming at the problem of unqualified shear property of standard parts which were made of 40CrNiMoA steel, the effect of tempering temperature on mechanical properties and microstructure was studied, and then the effects with and without phosphating process on shear property were compared and analyzed. The results show that with the increase of tempering temperature, both the tensile strength and shear property decrease gradually, while the plasticity is almost unchanged. The shear property of the steel with phosphating process is lower than that without. Thus, it is proposed that in order to ensure shear property of the product, the lower tempering temperature should be selected, and the effect of phosphating on reducing shear property should be simultaneously considered.
