Abstract: Failure analysis of main shaft fracture of wind power was studied. Through the analysis of designing, manufacturing and applying of the main shaft, it is found that there are multiple spot and dense over-standard defects(maximum defects of ϕ(7.0-14.2) mm), dendritic segregation, and the microstructure is not quenched and tempered structure. The results show that these defects are produced during steelmaking, forging and heat treatment, which cause the brittle fracture of the main shaft.
