Abstract: Effects of annealing temperature and dew point temperature in the secondary heating stage of high temperature annealing process on formation of magnesium silicate on surface of the HiB oriented silicon steel were studied. The results show that the quality of the forsterite film is better when the final temperature of the secondary heating stage of high temperature annealing is in the range of 1100-1170 ℃, but when water vapor remains in the annealing atmosphere during the secondary heating stage of the high temperature annealing, the quality of the forsterite film on the surface of the HiB oriented silicon steel is poor, and the higher the water vapor content is (meaning the higher the dew point temperature is), the thinner the thickness of the forsterite film, and the worse the quality of the forsterite film is.
